New Horizons: Loong Air Connects Xi’an to Samarkand

In a significant development for Uzbekistan’s aviation and tourism sectors, Loong Air, a Chinese airline, is set to commence flights from Xi’an to the historic city of Samarkand in the second half of June. This move marks a new chapter in the already established presence of Loong Air in the Uzbek market, where it operates two routes from Xi’an and Chengdu to Tashkent.

Loong Air is not a newcomer to the Uzbek aviation market. The airline has long been successfully operating regular passenger flights on the Chengdu-Tashkent and Xi’an-Tashkent routes, as reported by Podrobno.uz. The addition of the Samarkand route is expected to further solidify the airline’s commitment to facilitating travel and trade between China and Uzbekistan.

This month, the Samarkand airport will welcome its inaugural flight from Xi’an, operated by Loong Air. Known for both passenger and cargo services, Loong Air’s expansion into Samarkand is anticipated to boost the local economy and provide travelers with greater connectivity.

While the frequency of flights, as well as departure and arrival times, have not yet been disclosed, the agreement for the new flight route was reached during a meeting between the management of Uzbekistan Airports and representatives of the airline. This strategic decision is expected to enhance the accessibility of one of Uzbekistan’s most treasured cities, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and architectural wonders.

The establishment of the new air connection by Loong Air is poised to have a positive impact on tourism and trade, offering more options for travelers and businesses alike. As Uzbekistan continues to open its doors to the world, initiatives like this play a crucial role in promoting the country’s unique attractions and facilitating economic growth.

The introduction of the Xi’an-Samarkand route by Loong Air is a testament to the growing ties between China and Uzbekistan. It underscores the importance of air travel in bridging distances and bringing people closer, whether for business, cultural exchange, or exploration of the ancient Silk Road’s legacy. As the skies open up, the journey between these two historic cities promises to be not just shorter but richer in potential for shared prosperity and understanding.
